Who we are and what this policy covers
Mara Colors Kenya Limited(“Mara Colors”, “we”, “us” or “our”) is responsible for personal data collected through this website and through enquiries that you send to us.
This policy applies when you browse the website, submit a project or trade enquiry, contact us directly, or communicate with our team about Mara Colors products and services. If you follow a link to WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook or another third-party service, that service will process your information under its own privacy terms.
The personal data we collect
Depending on how you interact with us, we may collect:
- Identity and contact data, including your name, email address and telephone number.
- Project and enquiry data, including project type, property or space details, timelines, color preferences and the message you choose to send.
- Communication data, including our correspondence and any feedback or support request you provide.
- Technical data routinely made available when a website is requested, such as IP address, browser type, device type, requested pages and security logs processed by our hosting and infrastructure providers.
Please do not include passwords, financial details, health information or other sensitive personal data in a general project enquiry unless we have specifically asked for it and explained why it is needed.
How and why we use personal data
We use personal data only for clear business purposes, including:
- responding to enquiries and providing color or product guidance;
- preparing for a quotation, project discussion or other requested service;
- maintaining the security, availability and performance of the website and admin system;
- improving our service from aggregated feedback and enquiry trends;
- meeting legal, regulatory and record-keeping obligations; and
- sending marketing only where it is lawful to do so and giving you a clear way to opt out.
Our legal grounds may include your consent, taking steps at your request before entering a contract, performing a contract, complying with a legal obligation, and our legitimate interests in operating and protecting the Mara Colors business. We will not use your data for an incompatible purpose without an appropriate legal basis and, where required, fresh notice or consent.
International processing
Some technology providers may store or process information outside Kenya. Where personal data is transferred internationally, we will use the safeguards, contractual protections, adequacy basis or consent required by applicable Kenyan data-protection law.
How long we keep information
We retain personal data only for as long as it is reasonably needed for the purpose for which it was collected, to maintain appropriate business records, to resolve a dispute, or to meet a legal obligation. Retention is reviewed against the nature of the data, the enquiry or customer relationship, security needs and applicable legal periods.
When information is no longer required, we will delete, anonymise or securely isolate it, subject to backup cycles and any lawful reason that requires continued retention.
How we protect information
We use proportionate technical and organisational measures designed to protect personal data against unauthorised access, loss, alteration or disclosure. These include restricted administration access, secure session controls and managed hosting. No internet service can promise absolute security, so please contact us promptly if you believe your interaction with Mara Colors has been compromised.
Your choices and data-protection rights
Subject to applicable law, you may ask to be informed about how your data is used; access the personal data we hold; object to processing; request correction, deletion, restriction or portability; and withdraw consent where processing is based on consent. Withdrawing consent does not affect processing already carried out lawfully.
Send a request to Maracolors1@gmail.com. We may need to verify your identity before acting, and some requests may be limited where retention or processing is required by law. If you remain concerned, you may contact or lodge a complaint with Kenya's Office of the Data Protection Commissioner.
Children’s privacy
This website is intended for adults making home, commercial, trade or product enquiries. We do not knowingly request personal data from anyone under 18. A parent or guardian who believes a child has sent us personal data should contact us so we can review and delete it where appropriate.
